Maryland Baseball Academy
Overview
After 5 years of professional baseball, Derek Hacopian opened the Maryland Baseball Academy in Gaithersburg, Maryland in 1996. The academy focuses entirely on hitting, pitching, and catching instruction for all ages and levels of skill. The Maryland Baseball Academy employs only the most skilled, consistent instructors to offer their students the most professional baseball instruction available. Unlike other baseball schools that operate much like daycare or summer camp, Hacopian and his focused staff work year-round to develop today's young talent into tomorrow's Major League stars. The Challenge
Help Maryland Baseball Academy stand out from the crowd.

The Maryland Baseball Academy takes baseball very seriously, but didn't want a voice that intimidated potential students or their parents in a drill-sergeant way. They approached BrowserMedia looking to differentiate themselves from the other sports camps in terms of branding. In addition, they needed a way to make lesson scheduling easier for their clients and less burdensome on their staff.

The Solution
BrowserMedia took into account the types of lessons offered, the experience of the instructors, and the ambition of the students, and the attitudes and perspectives of the parents who wished to sign their children up for lessons. BrowserMedia created a website that was easy to navigate, carried detailed information about all of Maryland Baseball Academy's fields of instruction and instructors, yet still maintained the level of professionalism that underlies their mission. BrowserMedia then built a custom scheduling application that allowed parents to tailor their schedules to specific instructors that was instantly accessible and easily managed. This application also served the instructors in that they could remotely check their instruction schedule without having to "call into the office." Results
With instant access to information about the school and easier scheduling for students and their parents & instructors, the business model that Derek Hacopian originally envisioned 10 years ago has become a reality. The ease with which their existing and new customers can schedule instruction has led to a 50% increase in business in 1 year. Maryland Baseball Academy's staff can now focus on instruction instead of administrative tasks, which has reduced overhead and led to increased profitability for their company. BrowserMedia has won awards for the new, professional website. Most important, the solution from BrowserMedia streamlined the process of attracting new clients, signing them up, and keeping them.
